Now the Leaves are Falling Fast

In the second stanza the poet was frustrated by the behavior of selfish modern men. The poet explained that the messengers of death were present everywhere in different forms, to snatch human happiness. People show. the feeling of fake love to one another. Poet also said that the hands that were active once would become ice cold after death by which 

he meant that the people who were alive today would die tomorrow. People had confined themselves. They were suffering from the sense of loneliness in which they lived and died. In the third stanza the poet talked about hundreds of dead bodies which were being carried in wooden coffins at the back of people by raising their arms stiffly and expressing sharp disapproval or criticism of humans because of their behaviour or actions. The dead people were going empty handed as they were mocking the false attitude of human beings. Perhaps they were saying that they were not taking away anything this world with themselves. old

In the fourth stanza the poet compared the lives men to the leafess woods. He talked about how starving wicked and ugly creatures like wolves were searching for their prey in this world. As the entlemen dared not to oppose them, they remained silent. Since the world had deteriorated too much, no angel would come to rescue them. The Soldier

The poem "The Soldier" has been composed by war poet Rupert Brooke. This is a beautiful patriotic poem. It is a nice poem of fourteen lines which is called 'Sonnet'.

In the first stanza of the poem 'The Soldier' the poet admires England and expresses his gratitude to it. The poet is himself a soldier and he has gone to fight against another. country for his country. According to him, a soldier lives and dies for His country. The poet wants to die in battle for his country.

He says as if he dies in a foreign land fighting for his motherland, he will be buried in that land. He wants the plot of land, where his dead body will be buried. And should be treated as part and parcel of England. He remembers the roads, rivers, flowers, sun, and air of England with fondness. He cannot forget the laughter of his friends with whom he spent some time of his life. His country has contributed a lot to the growth of his personality. He was born and brought ufi there. So, he is ready to sacrifice his life for his motherland.

In the second stanza of the poem the poet wanted his readers to consider the way in which his soul, through death, would be made pure. He says that his country has given him flowers of love and the air to breathe. All these things show the poet's deep love for his motherland. The poet would return to the sights and sounds of his home country and to the beautiful dreams that were as happy as England's daytime. The poet wanted the laughter to be shared with English friends and He would return to England's gentleness which lived in the English minds that were at peace under the English sky. The poet painted a very joyous, peaceful picture of life after death that would be much like his Happiest times spent in England.
